Renaissance/Main Street Glasgows mission is to create a long-range
plan through the Renaissance Kentucky program for the development of the
downtown area of Glasgow as a vital part of the community. The Main Street
Program is based on a four-point approach developed by the National Main Street
Center, a division of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The goal of this program is to encourage downtown revitalization and economic development within the context of historic preservation.
There are many reasons for revitalizing a downtown, but once the process has begun, communities note positive changes such as:

In order to meet the objectives of the Renaissance/Main Street Glasgow plan, many issues were identified during public hearings and organizational meetings. Committees have been developed to address issues such as Economic Development, Community Services/Quality of Life, Marketing & Promotions, History & Architecture, Transportation & Parking, and Appearance/Beautification.

The Renaissance/Main Street Program is offering assistance to business
owners make improvements to their businesses. The Renaissance/Main Street
Exterior Improvement Program (EIP) exists to assist and encourage merchants and
business owners to undertake renovations to the exteriors of businesses within
the prescribed guidelines.
