Seen here is one of the compartments in which the GFD stores its
medical equipment. There is a variety of supplies at the disposal of the fire
department. Some personnel attend EMT courses and are certified, which aids in
the response to various calls, involving but not limited to: car wrecks,
assisting the elderly, the disabled and structure fire responses. Whether or
not a firefighter enrolls in EMT classes, they are trained in 1st responder
duties. They are instructed in the proper CPR procedures as well as how to
operate an AED (automatic external defibulator). Engine 7 and Engine 8 are the
two trucks from both stations that are designated to respond to all vehicle
accidents. They are the primary trucks assigned to this duty, but may require
the aid of another truck.
