It is the belief of the Glasgow Fire Department, that "Prevention" is one of the greatest tools to have. If we are successful in educating the community in how even the smallest actions can and do prevent fires, then we have accomplished a great deal of our mission. The following are some tips you can do at home that will help us, help you:



  Teach your children NEVER play with matches or lighters.
  Never burn anything without a burn permit inside the city limits.
  Don't burn anything before 6:00 p.m.
  NEVER burn tires.
  Do be very careful when burning and always have a water source near by.
  Wet the area around when you will be burning.
  Be aware of the weather conditions: dry, wind, etc.
  NEVER throw gasoline onto a fire.
  Keep children away from the burning area.
  Be aware of your surroundings: homes, vehicles, businesses, etc.
